Brought back by popular demand, this session is specifically designed for experienced directors. It includes a full day of special programming with lunch and an afternoon reception in the exhibit hall. Dinner will also be provided in the exhibit hall and directors are encouraged to stay. Essential Staff Training Activities

This full day workshop provides dozens of valuable activities that explore a wide variety of staff training topics. From leadership to problem-solving, openings to closings, creativity to teamwork, it’s all here. A copy of Jim’s new book is included in the cost of the workshop.

New Director Orientation
Wednesday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm $65/ACA Member $75/Non-member
A special eight-hour session for seasonal or new camp directors, assistant directors, program directors or persons that have been in other administrative positions who are considering directing camp. This is an overview of all the aspects of the director’s job with the primary focus on summer operation. It is an interactive session that includes risk management, camper behavior and staff training and supervision.

Standards Course
Wednesday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm FREE
This is a basic course for persons new to standards that cover the accreditation process and an overview of the new ACA standards. This course is a requirement for standards visits with new camps or directors and is expected to assist the camp in preparing for that visit.

Standards Update Course
Wednesday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm FREE
This course is designed for the person experienced in guiding a camp through the accreditation process. It is an orientation to the revised ACA standards and is a requirement for an experienced camp director before going through a visit. This course is also the first part of the visitor update course.

The Six Behaviors of Moral Courage

Collaborative Problem Solving: Advanced Conflict Resolution Skills for Campers & Staff Dr. Chris Thurber, Saturday, 9:00 am – 12:15 pm, $35/person
Rethink your outdated approach to conflict resolution. How do you give your site visitors that standout unique experience online that you are selling in your camp? Join this interactive hands-on session and learn how to create that camp destination site by improving your web site usability and integrating free new media tools.  Bring your laptop and leave with a plan to get that web site advantage and create a profitable user experience.

Talking ‘bout My Generation and Building a Five Minute Marketing Plan
