According to Governor Abbott's most recent executive order that was issued on 6-26-20, there is no occupancy limit for summer day camps for indoor or outdoor activities (Section 1, Part e). However, Camp West is operating at 25% capacity for everyone's safety.

Youth Day Camp Operators

We are pleased to announce that we had ZERO reported cases of COVID-19 among campers or

staff members last summer!

Must be printed and brought with you to registration.

Staff and Camper Screening

The health and safety of our staff and campers is our highest priority. Therefore, we will be sending a health evaluation form

  • Do you have a cough or shortness of breath?

  • Have you had a fever of 100.4 or higher within the last 14 days?

  • Have you had Pneumonia or the flu within the last 14 days?

  • Have you had close contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days?

  • Have you traveled outside of the country in the last 14 days?

  • Have you been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the last 14 days?

Any camper who is symptomatic or is suspected of being symptomatic for COVID-19 will not be allowed to attend camp or will be asked to leave camp.

Health and Safety

  • Everyone who visits the campus will have their temperature checked upon arrival and will not be allowed in if they show a temperature of 100.4 or more.

  • Campers and staff will be required to wash their hands upon arrival as well as before and after meals.

  • To minimize contact points, counselors will be the only ones allowed to open doors, flip light switches, etc.

  • Each counselor will wipe down their rooms every morning and afternoon. To minimize contact points, only counselors will be allowed to open doors, turn on light switches, etc. 

  • Activities will be disinfected after each use.

Sick Camper

  • Upon first signs that a camper is not feeling well, he/she will be evaluated by the First Aid Team and the appropriate care will be administered.

  • If it is determined that the camper needs to leave then all siblings will also be required to leave camp. Refunds will be prorated.

Is it safe to send my child to camp?

  • If your child is considered high risk or is showing symptoms then they should not come to camp unless cleared by their doctor.

  • Clinical Research on the Percentages of People Who Contract Covid-19:

    • The vast majority of cases in China — 87% — were in people ages 30 to 79, the China Center for Disease Control reported last month based on data from all 72,314 of those diagnosed with Covid-19 as of Feb. 11.

    •  Teens and people in their 20's who come in contact with other people, at school and work and on public transit don’t seem to be contracting the disease at significant rates: Only 8.1% of cases were 20-somethings, 1.2% were teens, and 0.9% were 9 or younger.

    • The World Health Organization's mission to China found that 78% of the cases reported as of Feb. 20 were in people ages 30 to 69.

    • World Health Organization finds that the spread of COVID-19 among people who are asymptomatic is very rare.
